GentleLASE® by Candela provides fast, safe and effective laser hair removal for patients of all skin types. The ideal patient for the GentleLASE procedure is someone with excessive hair growth who is unhappy with the appearance of the hair or with normal hair growth, who is tired of constantly shaving, waxing or plucking. In addition to hair removal, it can also treat razor bumps and ingrown hairs.
The advanced GentleLASE system can be used to treat any area of the body, but is most commonly used on the upper lip, chin, bikini line, arms, legs and underarms for women, and on the shoulders, back and beard area for men.
The GentleLASE procedure is usually most effective on patients with dark hair and light skin, although most patients are able to achieve successful results. It is important for patients to have realistic expectations about laser hair removal in order to be satisfied with their results.
During the GentleLASE procedure, the laser is moved across the targeted area with a handheld device that treats the area with intense laser pulses. Hair follicles in the growth state are disabled. The length of the procedure can range from just a few minutes up to an hour, depending on the size of the treated area.
The patented Dynamic Cooling DeviceTM (DCD) keeps the skin comfortably cool during and after treatment, soothing and protecting as the laser energy heats the hair follicles to reduce hair growth. Most patients only experience a tingling or snapping sensation like a rubber band. There is no bleeding during this procedure since the laser energy penetrates only the hair follicles deep within the skin.
Since the laser can only disable hair follicles that are in the active growth cycle and not those that are dormant, patients will need four to six treatment sessions in order to treat all of the follicles in the targeted area. Each session can treat approximately one-quarter to one-third of the follicles in the targeted area. Once treated, hair may fall out immediately or will shed within one to three weeks after treatment.
After the GentleLASE procedure, patients may experience redness and swelling in the treated area for about an hour, although these symptoms may last for up to two days. While you will be able to return to work and other regular activities as soon as you desire, patients are asked to avoid physical activities that may cause sweating for the first 24 hours after treatment.
While there is no permanent solution currently available for hair removal, the GentleLASE system offers long-term hair reduction of up to 70 to 90 percent, meaning that hair growth is much finer and lighter in color after four to six treatment sessions. Most patients are satisfied with the results of this procedure and no longer have to worry about constantly shaving or waxing their treated area.
We are proud to introduce the innovative and highly effective Portrait® Plasma facial rejuvenation for long-term skin health and beauty. The 15- to 30-minute procedure treats the deeper layers of skin, leaving the surface intact; when the new skin begins to grow in, the outer layers will simply flake away. Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure used to treat painful, unsightly varicose and spider veins. These veins are treated by injecting a solution of sodium chloride or sotradecol directly into the damaged veins, causing irritation and collapse of the vein. Sclerotherapy has been used on patients across the world for over 50 years and remains the primary effective treatment for varicose and spider veins.
Sclerotherapy is performed in the doctor's office and only takes about 15 to 45 minutes. Most patients need 2 to 4 treatments in order to achieve desired results. No anesthesia is needed for this quick and simple procedure, and most patients experience only minimal pain and a mild burning sensation. The skin is cleaned with an antiseptic solution and the sclerosant is then injected into the affected veins with a very fine needle.
Patients can return home shortly after sclerotherapy, and most can return to work and other normal activities the same day. Exercise and other strenuous activities should be avoided for 7 to 10 days. Compression and support bandages may need to be worn for a few days after the procedure, and some patients may experience mild bruising and pigmentation after sclerotherapy.
Since bruising may occur, it may be a few weeks before the true results of sclerotherapy are visible. Results are usually fully visible after 3 to 6 weeks. It is reported that up to 80 percent of damaged veins can be eliminated during each sclerotherapy session. Patients can help preserve the results of sclerotherapy and prevent new veins from appearing by maintaining an active life after the procedure.
